Classic Editor Plugin for WordPress
The Classic Editor is an official plugin created and maintained by the WordPress team, designed to restore the previous WordPress editor and the familiar “Edit Post” screen. This allows users to utilize plugins that enhance that screen, incorporate old-style meta boxes, or rely on the previous editor’s functionality.
Being an official WordPress plugin, the Classic Editor will continue to receive full support and maintenance until 2024 or as long as required.
The key features of this plugin are as follows:
1. Administrators have the ability to set the default editor for all users.
2. Administrators can grant users the option to change their default editor.
3. Users, when given permission, can choose which editor they prefer for each individual post.
4. Regardless of the last editor used by any particular user, each post will open in the last editor used, ensuring a consistent editing experience.
5. The Classic Editor plugin also comes equipped with several filters that allow other plugins to control settings and the choice of editor on a per-post and per-post type basis.
It’s important to note that the Classic Editor plugin, by default, hides all the features and functionality available in the new block editor (“Gutenberg”).
